Privacy & browser storage
Last updated: November 1, 2026
Progress on your device
FreeJapaneseAcademy currently has no student account system. If you mark a lesson complete, bookmark a lesson, or take a demonstration quiz, that information is stored in your browser using IndexedDB. It is not automatically uploaded to a learning account or synchronized across devices.
What's stored
Your browser may store lesson identifiers and completion times, quiz results and timestamps, bookmarks, and settings you choose. You can view, export, import, or erase this data from the dashboard.
Backups and clearing browser data
Browser storage can be erased when you clear site data, use certain private browsing modes, or remove your browser profile. Export a JSON backup if you want to keep your progress. Imported files remain on your device and are validated before they replace existing progress.
Hosting and technical requests
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like other websites, the hosting infrastructure processes requests needed to deliver pages. This page describes the application's browser-side learning data; it does not imply that infrastructure request logs or browser networking data do not exist. A fuller privacy notice should be reviewed before adding analytics, accounts, or other third-party integrations.
Questions and updates
This privacy explanation will be updated as new features are added. For now, no external account or personal profile is needed to use the demonstration tools.
